RED ORANGE EXTRACT®
All natural health benefits from blood orange
Red orange extract is obtained from three varieties of sicilian blood oranges: Tarocco, Moro and Sanguinello. These orange varieties grow in Italy, in particular in the eastern part of Sicily, where the pedoclimatic conditions and the presence of the volcano Etna , makes it particularly suitable for their cultivation.

Description
Botanical name: Punica Granatum L.
Origin: Italy, Sicily
Appearance: brown powder
DERMOGRANATE is an extract derived from pomegranate, a charming red-brown fruit that is shaped like an apple with grains. The fruit is characterized by a leathery rind enclosing many seeds surrounded by the juicy arils, which comprise the edible portion of pomegranate. However, the arils are not the only ones responsible for the health benefits of the fruit: every part of it is rich in bioactive compounds: from the pulp to the roots, from the bark to the leaves, up to the rind. The pomegranate has had a long and fascinating history. Although it probably originated in Iran, its cultivation spread quickly throughout the Mediterranean basin, and in particular in Southern Italy, i.e. Calabria, Puglia and Sicily, where the mild temperatures and the soil properties represent the ideal conditions for its growth.
Even if pomegranate has been extensively used for several centuries in traditional medicine for the treatment of a wide range of diseases, from upper respiratory infections to natural function against the flu, only in recent years, this fruit has increased in popularity and touted as a superfood, since it can help improve overall health.

BIOACTIVITY
DERMOGRANATEis packed with a high percentage of natural antioxidants coming from pomegranate rind. Chemical analysis on this extract have shown the presence of more than 20 bioactive compounds, with punicalagin, in particular punicalagin A and punicalagin B, gallic acid, ellagic acid and ellagic acid derivatives being the most representative. The synergic interaction between these polyphenols makes this extract suitable as a natural antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering agent as well as particularly active in the fight against free radicals.
SCIENTIFIC PAPERS ON DERMOGRANATE
Scientific research studies carried out on DERMOGRANATE have demonstrated its application in the prevention of intestinal inflammation (IBD), which refers to two different conditions, that are Chron's disease and ulcerative colitis. In addition, in another research a decrease in the triglyceride content and accumulation of intracellular fat have been found after the somministration of DERMOGRANATE.

“Potential health benefits of a pomegranate extract, rich in phenolic compounds, in intestinal inflammation”
In this experimental work, the beneficial effects on the intestinal tract of the DERMOGRANATE® extract were investigated, using an in vitro IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) model.
Studies show that HO-1 plays a vital role in protecting against intestinal disease. High HO-1 expression significantly improves intestinal dysfunction.
Cells treated with DERMOGRANATE ® are able to significantly induce HO-1
Furthermore, the response of cells to ROS production in vitro, both in untreated and in cells treated with DERMOGRANATE, was investigated.
Quantitative measurements of cells that have undergone oxidative stress were performed by cytometry
DERMOGRANATE® is able to maintain NADPH levels in such a way as to recycle glutathione (GSH), a key intracellular antioxidant, with consequent reduction of oxidative stress.
The DSS model was used to induce intestinal inflammation in mice in vivo.
Their clinical condition was monitored both daily and at the end of treatment.
The group treated with DSS showed extensive inflammation, while in the group treated with DERMOGRANATE ® there was no damage to either the mucosa or the thickness of the smooth muscle.
In vivo studies showed that colon length significantly decreased in the DSS group.
The length of the colon in the group treated with DERMOGRANATE® was comparable to that of the reference group.
Treatment with DERMOGRANATE® is able to reduce, both in vitro and in vivo, the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
The results confirm that the anti-inflammatory effects of the bioactive metabolites extracted from pomegranate can play a fundamental role in the prevention of intestinal diseases.
Scientific article: "Beneficial effects of pomegranate peel extract and probiotics on pre-adipocyte differentation"
The results obtained in the same research work show that the high concentrations of polyphenols contained in the pomegranate perform an antimicrobial action on some pathogenic bacterial strains, in particular L. innocua and S. aureus.
Treatment of the cells with DERMOGRANATE® and LGG led to a significant reduction in the triglyceride content, compared to the reference group.
Furthermore, the combination of DERMOGRANATE® and LGG-T1 possesses anti-inflammatory properties and is able to inhibit the differentiation of adipocytes by modulating the expression levels of key factors in adipogenic transcription.
